Ingo Molnar 公告了一個稱為 Exec Shield Overflow Protection 的 kernel hacking。

這個 patch 可以用來保護 stack, buffer or function pointer overflows。其實類似的保護有 openwall 所實做的 Non-executable user stack area 以及 grsecurity 所使用的 PaX。還有種保護是 random stack addresses 。
